2nd chance to hear Learning from Child E & Child F Safeguarding Practice Reviews (FREE Learning Events)
Another chance to hear and discuss the learning on Thursday 23 April (1.00 – 2.30) – MS Teams
Following yesterday’s session, we are holding a repeat session to provide practitioners with another chance to hear and discuss the learning from these two cases.
When a child dies or is seriously harmed, and abuse or neglect is known or suspected, a ‘safeguarding practice review’ may be conducted. The purpose of the review is to identify ways that professionals and organisations can improve the way they work together, to safeguard children, and prevent similar incidents from occurring. All professionals that work with children and families are invited to attend either of these 1.5 hour briefing sessions on the learning from the recent Child E and Child F safeguarding practice reviews. These reviews were completed in 2025, following serious safeguarding incidents in East Sussex. The briefing session will be delivered by colleagues from the ESSCP Case Review Group.
You can sign up to attend here: https://buytickets.at/eastsussexsafeguardingchildrenpartnership/2126892
- The Child E LCSPR was undertaken following the death of a 14-year-old child from suspected suicide. It includes learning in respect of working with families where there is serious acrimony following parent’s separation and following allegations of child sexual abuse.
- The Child F LCSPR was undertaken following a serious safeguarding incident involving a 15-year-old child. It includes learning around multi-agency working to ensure effective Child Protection Conference decision making and in cases where there are risks of sexual harm.
It is important that you know about these reviews, and the learning from them, so that the improvements identified become embedded into practice. Both reviews are currently unpublished, but should be published imminently on the ESSCP’s website here: Safeguarding Practice Reviews (previously Serious Case Reviews) – ESSCP
