Community Chest Fund – CHIP

• Summary: Funding can be used for direct project costs, including equipment, materials, delivery costs, staffing, contractor fees, and volunteer expenses. Projects should deliver positive social impact and improve wellbeing within local communities.

Who can apply:

The following types of organisations can apply, including but are not limited to:

• Community groups
• Charities
• Social enterprises
• Community Interest Companies (CICs)
• Uniformed groups
• Sports club.

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Have a bank account in the group’s name.
• Be able to provide details of Social Housing Providers, that are CHIC members, who are aware of their existence and activities.
• Be requesting funding for a project that supports social inclusion, supporting CHIC’s Social Value strategy.

Eligible Expenditure:

There is no specific framework required for the projects as long as there is a clear vision the project will benefit communities, through having a positive impact, in improving the lives of people within them.

The grant is to be used for costs directly related to the proposed project, including but not limited to:

• Equipment required for the project.
• Materials to complete the project.
  Delivery costs.
• Labour for paid staff members/external contractors.
• Expenses – for travel/volunteers.

The grant is aimed at local groups and organisations that are known to social housing providers that are members of CHIC. Supported activity must benefit the local community by improving community wellbeing and creating social value. Areas that may be supported include social and community development, health and wellbeing, avoiding crime and promoting justice, pre-employment support through education and skills and environmental sustainability.
