Organisation Amaze

SENDIASS Adviser East Sussex

Are you passionate about helping families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? This is a great opportunity to join our team at Amaze where your skills and expertise can make a lasting difference by helping families to know their rights, feel less alone and get the support they need.

You will need knowledge of SEND legislation (IPSEA Legal training Level 1+) and experience gained from previous employment or because you are a parent carer. You will communicate with callers by phone, email and text to provide Information, Advice and Support (IAS) to parent carers and young people across East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. A warm and welcoming manner is therefore essential, alongside a passion for providing a person-centred service.

Applicants should have an understanding of the issues faced by children and young people with SEND and their parent carers and ideally experience of providing advice.

Please note the role will be based in Amaze’s Eastbourne office (BN22) with some travel to Brighton office and outreach locations in East Sussex, and the option of some home-working.

If you want to be part of a great team that supports local families, we would love to hear from you. Please see the person specification in the job description for more details on what to include in your application. All applications will be measured against the person specification, so we encourage you to show how your experience meets these listed criteria in your letter. For more details on how to do this, please read our application guidance on our website.

How to apply:

  • Upload your CV and cover letter via link on our website.
  • The closing date for applications is 11.59pm Sunday 23rd August.
  • The provisional dates for interviews are 1st and 2nd September. We are aware it is holiday season so will aim to work around availability as needed.
  • Please complete the Diversity Monitoring Form in the mandatory questions section.

You are warmly encouraged to contact us for an information discussion about the role – email Liam Ryan liam@amazesussex.org.uk to arrange.

This role is subject to a DBS check and right to work checks. A criminal record will not necessarily disqualify a candidate from being offered employment.
