2 x Support Tutors – Engagement & Wellbeing Programme

(Boys' or Girls' Programme – Years 7 & 8)

Freelance | 3 Days per Week | Term Time Only (Days TBC)

Location: Brighton (Free parking available)

Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm (6 hours delivery each day)

Rate of Pay: £15 per hour (Freelance / Self-Employed)

Contract: Initial one-year contract (September 2026 – July 2027)
37 weeks per year

Develop Outdoors CIC is seeking two caring, enthusiastic and reliable Support Tutors to join our growing team, delivering an exciting Engagement & Wellbeing Programme for Year 7 and 8 students.

Working alongside an experienced Lead Tutor, you will help deliver engaging sessions that build confidence, wellbeing, positive relationships and life skills for young people who benefit from a practical and relationship-based approach to learning.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop a career working with children and young people in alternative education.

Learners will also work towards a portfolio of accredited learning and certificates linked to their interests, achievements and engagement activities.

The Role

Working alongside the Lead Tutor you will:

  • Support the delivery of engaging, practical and active learning sessions.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Encourage participation, confidence and independence.
  • Provide individual and small group support throughout the day.
    Support learners with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Help prepare resources and activities before sessions.
  • Assist with setting up and packing away learning environments.
  • Support learners to gather evidence towards accreditation.
  • Complete weekly learner session reports alongside the Lead Tutor.
    Assist with accreditation paperwork and learner portfolios.
  • Support positive behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Celebrate learners' progress and achievements.
  • Work as part of a collaborative Tutor team.

  • Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Experience working with children or young people (KS1-KS3) in schools, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, childcare, community groups or similar settings.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
    Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to support programme delivery alongside a Lead Tutor.
    Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance
  • required).
  • Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH.
  • Experience delivering or supporting small group or one-to-one activities.
  • Experience using creative, outdoor or practical learning approaches.
  • Experience supporting learner records or accreditation paperwork.
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
