National Emergency Briefing film screenings
Residents across Lewes District are invited to attend a series of community screenings of the National Emergency Briefing on the climate and nature crisis, a 50-minute film presented by broadcaster and environmental campaigner Chris Packham.
The film explores the wide-ranging impacts of climate change and nature loss on public health, food security, the economy and national security. Based on a major briefing event held at Westminster, it is being screened in communities across the UK to help raise awareness and encourage discussion about the challenges facing society and the actions that can be taken.
A number of free screenings will take place across Lewes District over the coming months, giving residents the chance to learn more about the climate and nature crisis and connect with others who are interested in creating a more sustainable future.

Business start up support
Last month 7 local entrepreneurs completed the ‘Ideas Into Action’ module of the free Lewes District Business Start-up Programme.
They came together for a half-day morning workshop followed by an afternoon of supported group work led by expert facilitators to help them towards turning a business idea or side hustle into a reality.
A participant said: “The most memorable bits for me were how the host, Richard, had developed very granular ways of understanding how business works in Sussex, the Business Model Canvas, and my one-to-one with him.”
Fully funded by Lewes District Council and delivered by ‘always possible’, the Lewes District Business Start-up Programme supports residents with a business idea and any business, including community enterprises, co-operatives and other social enterprises, that have been trading for less than 24 months.
For more information and to sign-up to the programme visit ldstartup.co.uk/home.
The next module, ‘Business Basics’ starts in November and is open for registrations.
