ESSCP: New Ticket Tailor Course FGM and Breast Ironing Course – 4th February 2027, 9:30 – 11:30 – via Microsoft Teams

Would you like to increase your knowledge and understanding of this complex area of Safeguarding? Do you feel confident in challenging certain practices whilst trying to remain sensitive and respectful to cultural and religious traditions? To learn more, sign up to this important multi-agency course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the definitions of Female Genital Cutting/Mutilation and breast ironing/flattening & why families practice these rituals
  • Recognise the types of FGC/M and potential community issues
  • Describe the impact on health of FGC/M and Breast Ironing/flattening for victims, including children
  • Identify risk indicators before / after FGC/M and Breast Ironing/flattening has taken place
  • Have an awareness of the Legislation – Mandatory Reporting / FGC/M Protection Orders

This event is being presented by a very experienced external trainer, who has worked closely with local authorities and Police forces to combat these behaviours and can bring personal knowledge to these training sessions.
