What are children and vulnerable people doing online? How safe are they? Join us for an action-packed session all about digital safeguarding. Delivered by our expert presenter, these sessions give you easy to implement advice to not only identify potential risks online but also how to protect those in your care.
Aims:
- To provide practitioners with an overview of the risks to children and young people in the online space
- To equip practitioners with practical tools and resources to be able to support the children and young people they work with in this element of safeguarding
- To provide an opportunity for practitioners to ask questions around digital safeguarding to a subject specialist.
If you apply what you have learnt during this training, you will be able to:
- Identify the risks to children posed by children being online
- Identify practical ways to protect the children and young people you work with.
- Key Topics Include:
- Online Risk: Spotting criminal activity online and an overview of how Cyber Criminals operate.
- Social Media/Chatroom Risk: The risks of social media. social engineering, online influencers, disinformation, AI, privacy and account compromises.
- Smartphones: The massive safeguarding issues arising from vulnerable people and children using unrestricted smartphones. We will be covering graphic subjects such as sextortion and online grooming.
- Gaming: Understand what the risks are and discover how to monitor and restrict use.
- Securing devices: learn all about parental controls and some of the tools available to enhance safeguarding.
