Community Workshop Invites East Sussex to Build Stronger, More Connected Neighbourhoods

“How can we all support each other to grow neighbourhoods and communities where people feel safe, valued, and ready to join in?”

That is the central question behind an upcoming community workshop in Eastbourne, bringing together residents, organisations and local partners to explore how stronger, more inclusive communities can be built from within.

The “Co-Everything” Workshop, taking place on Thursday 25 June 2026 at St Elisabeth’s Church, Victoria Drive (9:30am – 3pm), is part of a wider series of events happening across East Sussex. The initiative aims to connect people who are passionate about community-led change and encourage deeper collaboration across the county.

Open to VCSE organisations, local authority colleagues and residents, the free event offers a space for discussion, learning and connection, with lunch provided for attendees.

Building a Movement, Not Just a Project

At the heart of the workshop is the belief that meaningful, lasting change begins within communities themselves. The event invites participants not only to reflect on the key question of how to support one another, but to actively contribute to building a wider movement across East Sussex.

Through shared conversations and collaboration, attendees will explore how to strengthen networks, deepen relationships, and create environments where people feel confident to participate and belong.

A unique feature of the workshop is a collective creative project inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi — the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, celebrating resilience and transformation.

Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of broken pottery, which will be incorporated into a shared artwork spanning all four workshops. The piece symbolises the idea that communities are strongest when different stories, experiences and contributions are brought together.

Who Should Attend

The event is ideal for anyone who:

  • Is involved in community-led change and wants to go further
  • Wants to connect with others who share similar values
  • Is interested in building long-term, sustainable community impact
  • Believes that communities are strongest when they lead the way

How to Take Part

The workshop is free to attend, but places are limited and booking is essential.
