Domestic Abuse: Understanding Protective Orders and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) – November 11th, 2026, 9:30-11:00 a.m
Overview
The National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) is a Community Interest Company committed to ensuring that individuals subjected to domestic abuse can access civil protective orders, helping them secure safety from their abusers.
We provide a free service, ensuring that financial circumstances are never a barrier to protection. To further this mission, we offer complimentary training to professionals, enhancing their understanding of protective orders and the NCDV referral process. This training equips attendees with the knowledge to make more informed referrals, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for victim-survivors.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Develop a clear understanding of civil protective orders – including their purpose, the legal process involved, and how they help safeguard individuals experiencing domestic abuse.
- Gain insight into the role and services of NCDV – understanding the free support available and how NCDV helps individuals access protective orders.
- Enhance their ability to make timely and effective referrals – ensuring those at risk receive appropriate legal protection and support.
- Strengthen their knowledge in civil protection orders to improve outcomes – Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs), Non-Molestation Orders (NMOs), Occupation Orders (OCC) and Prohibitive Steps Orders (PSOs)
