Organisation The Matthew 25 Mission

The Kitchen Supervisor will work 37.5 hours a week from 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday with an hourly rate of £12.60.

The Kitchen Supervisor will:

  • Manage and prepare meals according to the ingredients available which may change at short notice because of kind donations
  • Supervise food preparation, storage, cooking and serving; to include using correct utensils, equipment, food prep boards / knives, temperature gauges, etc.
  • Supervise volunteers aware that they are volunteers and have varying skill levels and that it is a volunteer staffed kitchen
  • Use correct storage and equipment for different dietary requirements
    Keep daily paperwork for all fridge and freezer temperatures, kitchen cleaning and daily checks as required by The Food Standards Agency
    Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen and in all food storage areas
  • Manage the ordering of materials, supplies, and ingredients based on demand and provide weekly shopping list for wholesale suppliers
  • Organise and store daily food donation deliveries
  • Organise menus according to donations received
  • Ensure correct use and cleaning of kitchen equipment
  • Report any kitchen concerns or faults to the Centre Manager
  • Supervise kitchen staffing, rotas and training
  • Involved in managing kitchen budget for food and equipment
  • To be available for meetings and provide information and reports as required by the Trustees.

The Kitchen Supervisor will normally be expected to have prior experience of working in a commercial or school kitchen.

The Kitchen Supervisor will have attained qualifications at least at level 2 and be willing to work towards level 3 in Food and Hygiene or an equivalent qualification.

However, the Trustees reserve the right to place greater store on experience, skills and qualities than on formal qualifications.

The Kitchen Supervisor will be required to provide enhanced DBS certification.
