Self-Employed Branch Managers | Eastbourne, Newhaven & Bexhill

| Just Friends Charity

Earn up to £900 per month | Part-time | Flexible Working

Do you enjoy bringing people together, organising activities and making a positive difference in people’s lives?

Just Friends is a Sussex-based registered charity supporting adults who live alone, helping them build friendships and enjoy social connections through regular gatherings, activities and excursions.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and highly organised person to manage our established branches in Eastbourne, Newhaven and Bexhill.

Ideally, we would love to find someone to manage all three branches, but applications for one or two branches are equally welcome.

Hours and Working Arrangements

Attendance at regular branch meetings is essential:

• Newhaven: First and third Monday of each month, 10am to 12pm.

• Eastbourne: First and third Tuesday of each month, 10am to 12pm.

• Bexhill: First and third Friday of each month, 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Additional branch meetings are held in months with a fifth week.

The commitment is approximately 16 hours per month per branch, including meetings, administration, planning and member communications.

Outside the fixed meeting times, the role offers flexibility to work from home, with occasional attendance at planned excursions, wellbeing activities and special events.

As this is a self-employed role, you will need to be a proactive self-starter, confident managing your own workload, prioritising tasks and working independently while maintaining good communication with the charity’s central team.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

• Hosting welcoming and enjoyable branch meetings.

• Organising social activities, wellbeing sessions, guest speakers and excursions.

• Engaging with members from a wide range of backgrounds and helping everyone feel included.

• Coordinating volunteers and communicating with members.

• Handling cash responsibly, maintaining basic financial records and paying branch income into a local bank or Post Office monthly.

• Maintaining accurate membership and attendance records using Microsoft applications and SharePoint.

• Promoting and developing the branches locally.

• Maintaining regular communication with the charity’s central team, including reporting concerns or matters requiring attention.

• Following the charity’s safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Warm, caring, approachable and fun, with a genuine interest in people.

• A proactive self-starter who is highly organised, dependable and confident using their own initiative.

• Able to manage their time and workload effectively without constant supervision.

• Confident engaging with people of different ages, backgrounds and circumstances.

• Comfortable managing groups and responding calmly and appropriately to different situations.

• Confident handling money and undertaking basic bookkeeping.

• Competent using email, Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems, including SharePoint, or willing to learn.

• Sensitive to the needs of potentially vulnerable members, with an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and when concerns need to be reported.

Previous experience in charity work, hospitality, events, social care or group coordination would be advantageous, but strong transferable skills and the right personal qualities are equally important.

Remuneration

These are part-time, self-employed opportunities, with a fixed monthly fee per branch.

One branch: £250 per month, increasing to £300.

Two branches: £500 per month, increasing to £600.

All three branches: £750 per month, increasing to £900 per month.

Increases apply following a successful initial two-month review.

Agreed expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the charity’s expenses policy.

Successful applicants will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance arrangements.

Appointments will be subject to two satisfactory references, an appropriate DBS check, evidence of the right to work in the UK and agreement to follow Just Friends’ policies and procedures.
