Trike Support Volunteer
At Chailey Heritage Foundation we are dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and young person we work with, who are living with multiple physical, medical and communication needs. We are a thriving community of support for them and their families.
We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support young people with complex disabilities to ride their specialist trikes as part of their physiotherapy sessions. This isn’t just cycling — it is about improving coordination, muscle tone and independence.
What you will do
Working alongside our experienced Education Assistants you will:
Help set up specialist trikes following individual physiotherapy programmes
Support safe transfers using a hoist (full training provided)
Walk alongside the trike, ensuring stability and safety
Encourage and motivate young people to achieve their personal goals
Be part of those incredible goal reached moments
Every session is tailored to the young person — and your support will help make it happen.
What you will bring:
A genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people with disabilities
Reliability and a flexible, positive attitude
Ability to follow written guidance and work under supervision
Physical ability to walk while supporting a trike
What we will provide:
Be part of a friendly and supportive team
Induction training and other learning relevant to your role
Support through your named contact and the Volunteer Coordinator
Reasonable expenses
