Hailsham Neighbourhood Plan Review Submission (Regulation 16) Consultation:

Monday 6 July 2026 to Monday 31 August 2026.

REGULATION 16 – THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANNING (GENERAL) REGULATIONS 2012 (AS AMENDED)

Hailsham Town Council has prepared a draft Neighbourhood Plan Review covering Hailsham, that sets out a vision for the future of the area, as well as planning policies that, if adopted, will be used to determine planning applications in the Neighbourhood Area and will form part of Wealden District Council’s Statutory Development Plan.

The Town Council has now formally submitted the draft Neighbourhood Plan and associated supporting documents to the Council for consultation and examination.

Wealden District Council is inviting representations on the submission draft of the Neighbourhood Plan Review and supporting documents for a period of 8 weeks from 9am on Monday 6 July 2026 to 5pm on Monday 31 August 2026.

Where can I view the consultation documents?

The Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents are available to view below.

Hard copies of the Neighbourhood Plan and the majority of supporting documents can also be viewed at the following locations:

  • Wealden District Council, Council Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham, BN27 2AX. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8.30am-5pm, Wednesday 9am – 5pm.
  • Hailsham Town Council Offices, Members Room (Mayors Parlor), Inglenook, Market Street, Hailsham, East Sussex, BN27 2AE Open Monday- Friday 10am- 2pm.
  • James West Community Centre, Brunel Drive, Hailsham, BN27 3FX Open Tuesday- Friday 10am- 2pm.
  • Hailsham Library, Western Rd, Hailsham BN27 3DN Open Monday 12-5pm, Tuesday 12-5pm, Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am-5pm, and Saturday 10am-5pm.

How to Respond?

Representations on the draft Neighbourhood Plan can be made by completing the Consultation Response Form below and returning it:

  • by email to Nplans@wealden.gov.uk
  • or by post to Planning Policy, Wealden District Council, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham, BN27 2AX

The Regulation 16 Guidance Notes available below contain further information to assist you in the process.

Notification:

Please state in your response if you would like to attend the examination in public, should the Examiner deem hearings to be necessary (question 3) and if you wish to be notified of the local authority’s decision on whether or not to ‘make’ (adopt) the Hailsham Neighbourhood Plan Review (under Regulation 19) (question 4).
